The World’s End is the final installment in Wright and Pegg’s “Blood & Ice Cream” trilogy, which began with Shaun of the Dead and continued with Hot Fuzz. Each film is linked by 1) Bloody comical violence and characters eating a certain flavor of ice cream, and 2) A good-natured genre lampoon blended with more traditional British comedy of manners elements.

Here, it’s the end-of-world genre that gets a ribbing, and the snack of choice is mint chocolate chip (in reference to the movie’s other-worldly visitors). The newly-released U.S. trailer reveals that the extra-terrestrials – disguised as people a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers – are robotic beings that (quite literally) bleed blue. Cue the splatter-happy mayhem and Wright/Pegg’s staple fence-hopping gag.
