The first of Netflix’s original shows to get recommissioned is Hemlock Grove. It’s true that House of Cards has already started shooting its second season, but that was okayed at the same time as the first.
According to Deadline, Dexter and Walking Dead veteran Chic Eglee will be joining the show’s team of producers, stepping in as Mark Verheiden and Deran Sarafian move on.
Netflix went to the wire on this one, leaving it until their options on the cast were about to expire before pulling the trigger. I think they’ve made the right decision, though. There was genuine potential in the first run, sometimes fulfilled, and the episodes do appear to have drawn in a fair-sized crowd of viewers.
The show’s big name is producer-director Eli Roth, who has issued a statement.
Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.
Sounds like PT Barnum is undead and unwell. Still, can’t blame Roth for the razzle dazzle – it’s a good part of his duty here.
It does sound like the surviving key characters will be coming back for these ten new episodes.
Hemlock Grove will get back in front of the cameras later this year and likely stack up for binge viewing in 2014.
