The first trailer for the new retelling of Ben-Hur is here and Charlton Heston must be rolling is his grave thinking “Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
Paramount Pictures’ Ben-Hur retelling will hit theatres later this year, with Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) headlining as Judah Ben-Hur – the role that Charlton Heston won an Oscar for playing back in 1959 – and Toby Kebbell (Warcraft, Fantastic Four, RocknRolla) costarring as Judah’s adopted brother-turned mortal enemy, Messala.

Jack Huston plays Judah Ben-Hur and Morgan Freeman plays Ilderim in Ben-Hur from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
The film, like previously-released movie versions of Ben-Hur, draws from the novel by Lew Wallace (fully titled “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ”), though this take on the story was directed by Timur Bekmambetov: the Russian filmmaker that most filmgoers are familiar with for his highly-stylised (and violent) comic book movie Wanted, as well as the (also very stylised) historical fantasy/action film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
