The Harry Potter franchise was massive for Warner Bros., and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is hoping to extend the interest in that series.

Longtime Harry Potter director David Yates will helm “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, which co-stars Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jenn Murray and Colin Farrell.

Inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook of the same name, and will feature the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander. It’s neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to the Harry Potter’s fans, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.
